Maradona's best goal according to Maradona himself

Last update May 5, 2020 by Javier Argudo

When we think Maradona's best goal, many of us come to mind the one scored by the Argentine star against England in the World Cup in Mexico '86. But nevertheless, The fuzz, chose the one, for him, he is the best goal he has scored in his entire career.

Diego Loving Maradona he made goals of very beautiful invoice both at club level (Argentinos Juniors, Boca, Barcelona, Naples, Sevilla…) as with the Argentine albiceleste. Although his two seasons at Barça were not as good as one could expect, partly due to serious injury, the truth is that he had time to do incredible things.

In a tie of the old Cup Winners Cup, Barcelona traveled to Belgrade to face in the round of 16 the Red Star. The match, corresponding to the round of 16, ended with a resounding result of 2-4 favorable to catalans, who made it through to the next round.

It was the second goal of the Barcelona team that left those present speechless. Maradona received a ball about 40 meters from the goal, advanced, He was avoiding opponents until he reached the front of the area where, with an impressive Vaseline, marked a real goal.

The player himself, on more than one occasion, he has referred to it as the best goal of his career. Something we may or may not agree with, as, about likes, there is nothing written. What is clear is that, like many others of Maradona, it is a real work of art.

Unfortunately for Barça, who was the current champion of that tournament, the Austria Vienna gave the surprise in the quarterfinals. The Austrians eliminated the Catalans thus avoiding a spectacular crossing Barcelona-Real Madrid in semifinals.

The madridistas, big favorites to lift the trophy, they reached the end of that Recopa 1982-1983. But nevertheless, a new surprise was missing. The Aberdeen Scottish, trained by one Alex Ferguson, left the Madrid team without the only European title missing from their showcases. But nevertheless, that edition will go down in history as that of Maradona's goal to the Red Star.
