Real society: Bad streak that puts the Champions League in danger
January has been a bittersweet month for the Basques. They started with a tie 1 against Alavés 2 from January, Then they eliminated Málaga from the Copa del Rey by the minimum (0-1) and on saturday 13 He silenced them as if it were Friday when they fell 2-1 in the Basque visitors derby in San Mamés. Four days later they advanced again in the cup when they won 0-2 to last year's finalists, Osasuna, in a match decided by two penalties: one who entered, and the other one was covered by the goalkeeper but Mikel Merino scored on the rebound.
Real's main problem continues to be the lack of a goal since December. Son 10 many in 10 matches, but they have gone blank on 3 of the crashes. Merino, after the derby against Athletic, spoke about the situation: “It seems that now we are not as fine as before, but when a team plays to try to get the ball you have a hard time if you are not sharp, but when you are, you generate many opportunities. But we are going to continue like this because this is what has given us returns in recent years.”
It is no small thing that several of their starting attackers are not available due to different situations.: Takefusa Kubo, Hamari Traoré and Umar Sadiq traveled with their national teams to participate in the continental cups, although the latter returned due to injury and was surprisingly able to recover to play against Osasuna. And injuries have also been a thorn in the side for several players who have missed games in this December stretch, such as Martín Zubimendi, Álvaro Odriozola and Carlos Fernández.
That is why those from San Sebastián have looked for attacking options in the market and have already signed winger Sheraldo Becker, from Unión Berlin in the Bundesliga. In the Spanish press they have described him as a player “who can act in all attacking positions.”, and stands out for being fast, powerful and with a powerful physique. International in lower categories of the Dutch national team, He later decided to play with the Suriname national team, with which it is absolute international.
Vallecano Ray: The objective is to stay in first
Rayito's exit from the Copa del Rey was a disappointment for fans whose only remaining joy this season could be staying in the first division.. Those led by Francisco Rodríguez met some league leaders eager to make amends after the bad game against Almería, and the rojiblancos took the Madrid team ahead in the first half.
Rayo Vallecano's weak point was central defender Abdul Mumin, who Stuani drove crazy throughout the game and passed him for the first goal, and then he knocked down Portu in the area, causing the penalty 2-0. The franjirrojos did not start badly but suffered their mistake in front of goal and Girona hit quickly and effectively to end the first half 3-0. The coach's post-match statements were disappointing: “Of course this is not our identity and we should not allow it.”. And logically with 3-0 “It has already been very difficult.”.
There was a certain excitement with this Cup match since both coaches had been on the rival bench, and the two teams had met in recent years on different occasions between the first and second divisions of Spanish football.. The most dramatic of these meetings was when Francisco Rodríguez led Girona in the season 2020-2021 and led the team to the second division playoffs for promotion, but he failed in his task and ended up leaving office for losing the match with none other than Rayo Vallecano..
The reality is that the franjirrojos must focus their attention on the league to continue adding and make relegation a mathematical impossibility as soon as possible.. Against Real they have a difficult task against a team that likes to play with the ball and put pressure on their rivals at the start.. It remains to be seen if Rayo's defense will rise to the occasion to make a solid away performance..
Ups and downs for the match
The locals, with Umar Sadiq 'miraculously' reappearing in the Copa and Martín Merquelanz apparently ready to play. Hamari Traoré and Takefusa Kubo, with your selections, while Odriozola is out of action due to injury and Carlos Fernádez is in pain after leaving the derby with discomfort..
The franjirrojos have Óscar Trejo back as well as Kike Pérez who has already served his sanction for accumulation of cards. Pathé Ciss and Bebe meet their national teams at the African Cup.

Prediction
Those from Anoeta have a clearer objective in the league: return to Champions League positions. Rayo, on the other hand, is not so desperate for points to get away from relegation and I already have the cup motivation to raise my spirits with hopes of trophies.
Both teams are fighting for the goal, so the score of the match is not predicted to be very bulky. It will be interesting if Imanol decides to give Becker minutes to test how Suriname brings his powder and if he can contribute to a Basque attack that needs adrenaline..
Result prediction: Real society 1-0 Vallecano Ray
