Giuseppe y Franco Baresi, brothers and rivals

Last update April 21, 2020 by Javier Argudo

For better or worse, all the siblings tend to compete throughout their lives. In the case of Baresi, protagonists of this article, for more than obvious reasons.

Franco Baresi, born in Travagliato a 8 May 1960 is, definitely, one of the names that comes to mind when we think of the AC Milán, one of the historical ones of European and world football. Not in vain, He is the second player with the most appearances at the Italian club, with a total of 719 matches, just behind Paolo Maldini. What few know is that, in the same city but two years before, was born Giuseppe, the older brother of the Baresi.

While Franco signed 20 seasons with the shirt Rossoneri, his brother Giuseppe completed, no more no less, what 16 with the neroazurra. Definitely, two very significant careers that make them two legends of one and the other club.

Shadowed by his brother, Giuseppe disputed a whopping 559 parties with Inter, becoming captain and an important icon of the interist entity, with two leagues and two cups on his record.

THE BARESI IN THE WORLD CUP

Two brothers of the highest level, recognized worldwide for their safety and defensive power (both played central). Franco disputed three world-wide, that of 1982, where Italy became champion, that of 1990 and the 1994. curiously, his brother Giuseppe only disputed that of 1986, the only one the Milan player missed during his professional career. Thus, Brothers Baresi they could never coincide in a World Cup.

All this said, it should be noted that in Derby Della Madonnina where they both faced each other, takes the cat to the water, very tight, Giuseppe, that with his Inter won on 8 occasions, by 7 victories of Franco with Milan and others 6 matches that ended in a draw.

As far as titles are concerned there is a considerable difference. Franco Baresi raised 18 trophies with AC Milan, among them 6 'Scudetto', 3 Champions, 2 intercontinental and 2 European Super Cups, also add the World Cup 1982 with the Italian team. Meanwhile, Giuseppe only won 6 titles with Inter Milan, perhaps this fact is what makes the difference between the two, Although there is no doubt that both brothers are part of the history of two of the largest football clubs in the world.
