The lives of five London footballers on loan this season

Last update January 6, 2023 by colgadosporelfutbol

Transfers in football can have two faces for young people: for players like Harry Kane, what played on loan to several teams before succeeding at Tottenham Hotspur, They can be used to warm up and train as a player, while for others they can be a real step backwards.

Many London Premier League clubs have accumulated players on loan this year both abroad and to other lower-tier English teams, so there are many fans who hope that these promises can take advantage of the accumulated experience to return to their original teams more accomplished.

In this article we'll take a look at five young Londoners who are defending another team's shield this season..

Callum Hudson-Odoi – Bayer Leverkusen (Chelsea)

Of all the players recently emerged from the Chelsea academy, Callum Hudson-Odoi was the one who seemed to have the most promising future. But nevertheless, after a good start at Stamford Bridge under the orders of Maurizio Sarri and after accumulating three international caps for England, his career has stalled since he applied for a transfer request in 2019.

After a time without counting for the different coaches that Chelsea has had after the departure of the Italian coach, Hudson-Odoi decided to leave on loan to German Bayer Leverkusen, where he is having a prominent role playing both on the left wing and inside. Leverkusen has played this year in the Champions League, but after finishing third in the group, now it is his turn to play the round of 32 of the Europa League, in which he will face Monaco.

the young english, that he will have to abstract himself from the attractions offered by the Monegasque capital when his team visits Monte Carlo, He will try to demonstrate in the field that he has recovered his best version. And if you feel like going to the casino, you can always play blackjack online.

Chelsea's new manager, Graham Potter, will be very attentive to the evolution of Hudson-Odoi, who could give a new opportunity next year.

Harry Winks – Sampdoria (Tottenham Hotspur)

habitual owner with Mauricio Pochettino Y Jose Mourinho, Harry Winks I didn't expect his career to end the way it has..

The young Englishman has not counted at any time for Antonio Conte, that this year requested the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur, so Winks decided to pack his bags and go to Sampdoria in the summer, where a real hell is living.

The midfielder arrived at the Italian club with serious ankle problems that have prevented him from making his debut under the orders of Dejan Stankovic, and the Genoese club announced in November that the player would finally undergo surgery to solve his problems.

This decision is likely to result in early termination of the assignment agreement, especially if the period of leave of the young Englishman is very long.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – Southampton (Arsenal)

No place in Mikel Arteta's squad, Maitland-Niles joined Southampton on loan for the fourth time in September. The young Londoner has played regularly in his new destination, but so far he has only completed one whole match.

although the new tenant of the bench of the Saints, Nathan Jones, relegated him to substitution in the last match of the southern England team before the World Cup break, Maitland-Niles is called to have a leading role in the midfield of a team that will want to avoid relegation at all costs.

Maitland-Niles has everything to help his current team: tenacity, resistance and, especially, versatility. Surely, Arsenal fans hope that the player, of 25 years, achieve the objective that has been set this season and return to the Gunners being a more complete player.

Nathan Baxter – Hull City (Chelsea)

Nathan Baxter may not be well known, but, their 24 years, the goalkeeper who emerged from the Chelsea youth academy is already a starter at Hull City.

Baxter has been climbing steps through the different categories of English football, from League Two to the Championship, and he even spent a year on loan at Ross County in the Scottish Premier League.

He is currently in his second season at Hull City, who fight to avoid the relegation places in the English second division.

Baxter is so confident in his chances that he hopes to be able to wear a Chelsea shirt sooner rather than later..

Steven Sessegnon – Charlton Athletic (Fulham)

This season may finally mark the final maturation of Steven Sessegnon. The left-back has been playing at a high level since joining Charlton in September, although the London team is not going through its best moment.

Sessegnon has not had it easy, since he has lived a little in the shadow of his twin brother Ryan, who is succeeding at Tottenham Hotspur. But nevertheless, Steven's quality is undoubted, and this year he has already scored a goal and distributed two assists. If Charlton manage to pull themselves together and Sessegnon continue to prove their worth, it is likely that the London team will end up fighting to access the play-off for promotion to the Championship.

What seems obvious is that, if the player continues with their current progression, will end up returning to the ranks of Fulham next year.
