Germany has always been a power in the world of football. With 4 global and 3 Eurocopas, is one of the most winning teams in history. This is, for the number of great players that have been available throughout history. These are, in our view, the 10 best German footballers in history.
FRITZ WALTER
Fritz Walter He was born 31 October 1920. He was a great German midfielder who spent his entire career at the Kaiserlautern. Started as a center forward, but his great vision of the game and his quality made him back down a few meters on the pitch. Despite the fact that World War II interrupted his career, Walter would make a mark in the history of German football, winning the World Cup 1954. Juice 61 meetings with the German team in which he would score 33 goals. In 1959 hung up the boots.
UWE SEELER
Born in 1936 in hamburg. He played as a center forward, considered by many to be one of the best in history in his position. Sepp Maier it, possibly, the best goalkeeper in the history of Germany. He played his entire career at Bayern Münich and managed to win all possible titles both at club level and internationally. He played 4 global and 2 Eurocopas, winning both trophies on one occasion. With Bayern, would achieve 4 Bundesliga, 1 German Cup, 3 European Cups and 1 Intercontinental Cup. Furthermore, at the individual level, he would be named German Player of the Year in 3 occasions.
FRANZ BECKENBAUER
Beckenbauer was born on 11 September 1945. One of the best defenders in history, although he started his career playing as a striker and, later, as a defensive midfielder. He managed to win a World Cup and a Eurocup with the German team, and at the club level, 3 European Cups, 5 Bundesliga, 4 German Cups and 3 American leagues among others. He was also awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2 occasions and won recognition as German Player of the Year 4 times.
GERD MULLER
Müller is known for being one of the best scorers in football history with 735 official goals. He managed to win the golden boot in 2 occasions, he was top scorer in the World Cup 1970 with 10 goals, top scorer of the Euro Cup 1972 with 4 goals, 7 times top scorer in the Bundesliga and 4 times top scorer in the European Cup. Like Beckenbauer and Sepp Maier, achieved a World Cup and a Euro Cup with the national team, in addition to 4 leagues and 4 German cups and of course, 3 European Cups.
RUDI VÖLLER
Born in 1960, Völler was a great German center forward with great quality and power to break the rival defenses. He played 90 matches for the team scoring 47 goals and getting the World Cup 1990. At club level, he would win a Champions League and an Italian Cup. He was also named the best German footballer on one occasion and managed to be the top scorer 2 times in the Bundesliga and once in the Italian Cup.
JURGEN KLINSMANN
Klinsmann, just like Rudi Völler, played as a center forward. In fact, they were the attacking partner of the national team for several years. They share the third place in the classification of top scorers in the selection with 47 many. With the selection he would get the World Cup 1990 and the Eurocup 1996 and for their clubs, would achieve 1 Bundesliga and 2 UEFA Cups. He was top scorer in the Bundesliga this season 87/88 and best German footballer of the year in 2 occasions.
RUMMENIGGE
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: it was dskillful and fast forward. Rummenigge managed to score 162 goals for Bayern Münich in 10 seasons he played for the Bavarian team. He managed to win the Eurocup 1980 with the national team and at club level, he won the European Cup in 2 occasions, the Bundesliga too 2 times and 2 German cups. LOTHAR MATTHÄUS
One of the few players to dispute 5 World Cups. He is one of the German footballers with the most titles in history with a total of 19 at the collective level, among them, 1 world, 1 Euro, 7 Bundesliga, 3 German Cups and 2 UEFA Cups. At the individual level he would win a FIFA World Player Award (currently known as The Best), 1 Golden Ball and the award for best German player of the year in 2 occasions.
MIROSLAV KLOSE
Klose became 2014 at top scorer in World Cup history after beating Ronaldo Nazario. He is the top scorer in the history of the German team with 71 goals, ahead of Gerd Müller, who scored 68. In his record he has 1 world, 2 Bundesliga, 2 German Cups and 1 Italian Cup among others. He was named best German footballer of the year in 2006 after being the top scorer in the World Cup that same year, held in Germany.
