Last update July 13, 2022 by Javier Argudo

Who knew football in years 90 we remember a series of footballers with great affection. One of them is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who had a fleeting but very intense step through the Spanish League.

The Dutch footballer was one of the star signings of the Atletico Madrid in the season 1999-2000. That summer, the mattress set had a template of authentic luxury: Molina, Deck of cards, Valerón, Kiko or himself Hasselbaink are some examples.

But nevertheless, To everyone's surprise, came in the 1950's Claudio Ranieri did not start in the best way. On the day 26 of the championship, the Italian was fired by Jesús Gil and an old man known as Radomir Antic, but nevertheless, the Serbian coach also failed to redirect the trajectory of a team that was going, surprisingly and hopelessly, Second Division.

But nevertheless, while the team was shipwrecked, a man stood out above the rest based on goals. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, the one that was cool even the name, he swelled to score with the red and white shirt. Total, Netherlands striker (born in Suriname) I note 35 units (24 League, 4 in Copa del Rey and 7 in the UEFA Cup). Crossbow Salvage only, of Racing Santander, deprived our protagonist of the First Division Pichichi that season 1999-2000.

His goals did not serve to save the Atletico Madrid of a surprising descent but yes to sign for another great of Europe. Chelsea took over the services of Hasselbaink who returned to the Premier after having worn the Leeds United shirt.

His first season with the blue shirt continued along the same lines. With 23 goals was top scorer in the Premier League and established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe.

After four successful seasons at Chelsea, Hasselbaink he signed for Middlesbrough where he played for two seasons and finally for Charlton Athletic. In both teams he continued to do what he knew best: Score goals. yes, in no other team did he achieve a figure as high as that obtained in the Atletico Madrid, a strangest season.
